Simultaneous Interpretation

The simultaneous interpretation (SI) is when an interpreter interprets the message from the source language to the target language concurrently.

SI is often employed at conferences where a large audience with two or more different languages should understand speaker’s presentation in real time.

Consecutive Interpretation

In the consecutive interpretation (CI), the interpreter converts the words into the target language after the speaker delivers one or two sentences.

The speaker pauses and waits for the interpreter to convey the message before continuing with their speech.

CI is used for more various occasions than SI for flexibility and management.

Interpretation Time	The entire interpretation time including break hours but excluding 1 hour for lunch (unless there's no interpretation required during lunch) Basically, it means the entire conference time that requires interpretation.
Rehearsal	If there is rehearsal on the day of interpretation, it will be considered interpretation time. If the rehearsal is required earlier than the day of interpretation, then it will be quoted as the same rate of interpretation.
Cancellation	If the interpretation is cancelled after confirming the interpretation, the cancellation fee will be charged. 4~7 days before: 30%, 2~3days before: 40%, 1 day before: 50%, the day of interpretation: 100% of the interpretation rate will be charged.
Simultaneous Interpretation	A team of two interpreters will do the simultaneous interpretation.
Briefing	If the briefing is made with interpreter before the day of interpretation, it will be charged by hour - ￦200,000 per hour. Meeting agenda and materials need to be provided at least one week before the conference.
Adjustment	The interpretation rate could be adjusted depending on difficulty and urgency of the interpretation.
Recording	Recording and broadcasting of the interpretation can be made, only after the interpreters agree with the recording and broadcasting. In case of recording and broadcasting, 100% premium will be added.
Night-time Interpretation	If the interpretation takes place from night till dawn (22:00 ~ 06:00), night-time charge will be added as 50,000 won per hour.

Definition

1. Period :
  Interpretation will be defined as a project interpretation, if it occurs more than 1
  week at least. The frequency should be:
  For one week – 4 interpretations a week at minimum
  For two weeks – 3 interpretations a week at minimum
  For three weeks – 2 interpretations a week at minimum
  For four weeks (one month) – 1 interpretation a week at minimum
  For longer than one month – to be defined based on the frequency
2. Frequency:
  The project interpretation is used for the project meetings frequently arranged
  under the same purpose to be met within a fixed schedule
3. Area:
  For both interpretation / translation
4. Others:
  The frequency of project interpretation should be set and guaranteed,
  and the condition of project interpretation is to be revised according to frequency / length / amount, etc.

Rate

The rate of project interpretation is to be differentiated based on interpreter’s career and project period.
The rate shown in the below table is based on the work in Seoul. If the project takes place outside of Seoul, such expenses are needed – accommodation, transportation, per diem, etc.
